Creating intentional life-giving rhythms
For most of us, the past several years have been filled with intense disruption, disorientation, perhaps anxiety and despair. You may find your "typical" patterns of work, home, and relational life upended, with no sense of what the future will look like. Yet here, in the disruption, we are given an incredible opportunity to re-orient ourselves towards creating new structures for holistic flourishing. As we continue to ask ourselves, "Who we are becoming?" during this challenging season, this guided 4-week journey is intentionally designed to:
- Process the current season of pain,
- Discern what matters most to God,
- Practice stillness, deepening the inner life of faith, and
- Affirm the importance of community in hearing and responding to God's voice.
The journey is intended to be done in partnership with another, so find a friend or family member to enroll with you and join us!
The rhythms consist of the following components:
- Weekly hour-long sessions for stimulating theological training and skillful orientation to introduce each week's theme.
- Daily "Listening Book" exercises to facilitate hearing God in the midst of hectic days incorporating a variety of spiritual practices.
- 3x/wk 25-minute times of guided stillness and prayer.
- Weekly 45-min listening conversation with a spiritual companion.
Working Towards the New: Exploring a Theology of Making
February 14 - March 13, 2021
Coming out of a year of unprecedented disruption and upheaval, how do we begin to work towards the new? How is God able to take the pain in our lives and in our world to create a "new newness" that is characterized by abundance and gratuitous love? Journey with us for four weeks to explore how the Spirit of God is able to captivate our imaginations to create a new paradigm of how we approach our work to make new things in the likeness of our Creator and Redeemer.
We will be drawing from Makoto Fujimura's latest book Art + Faith: A Theology of Making to assist us on this journey.
